Consultations on legislation to allow same-sex marriage in England and Wales began in 2012. There was only one government consultation in Wales and this took place on 15 May 2012 at the United Reform Church, Cardiff. Federico Podeschi, the CEO of the charity the LGBT Excellence Centre, had met one of the Government representatives in London and pitched to host the event in Wales.
